Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators free to use?

Yes. Every calculator on this page runs entirely in your browser using a standard, published financial formula. Nothing is submitted to BrokerLens or anyone else.

Which calculator should I use for SIP planning?

The SIP Calculator projects a regular monthly investment. If your monthly amount will increase each year, use the Step-up SIP Calculator instead - a flat SIP calculator understates the result.

What is the difference between the SIP and lumpsum calculators?

The SIP Calculator assumes a fixed amount invested every month; the Lumpsum Calculator assumes the entire amount is invested once, upfront. Use whichever matches how you actually plan to invest.

Do these calculators account for tax?

Only the Capital Gains Tax Calculator and GST Calculator compute tax directly. The others (SIP, lumpsum, SWP, PPF, retirement) show pre-tax growth; any tax due on withdrawal is not deducted.

Where can I compare actual broker charges instead of financial formulas?

Use the brokerage cost calculator, which compares real published charges across every broker BrokerLens tracks, rather than a generic formula.
