Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking Standards
BrokerLens is an independent financial data and research infrastructure platform built for Indian retail investors. Our fundamental mission is to replace promotional marketing claims with verified, auditable facts sourced directly from statutory regulators and market infrastructure institutions.
1. The Golden Source Standard (Hierarchy of Data)
Every metric, fee, reliability score, and market snapshot published across BrokerLens is strictly grounded in primary public disclosures. We adhere to an uncompromising hierarchy of truth:
- Tier 1 (Statutory Regulators & Sovereign Feeds): Gazette notifications, circulars, and the official Intermediaries Registration Database of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) notifications, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
- Tier 2 (Exchange & Clearing Corporation Records): Daily trade bulletins, monthly active client disclosures, quarterly complaint redressal audits, settlement schedules, and tariff sheets from the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), and Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
- Tier 3 (Institutional Repositories): Official Net Asset Value (NAV) feeds and scheme portfolios published daily by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and recognized RTAs (CAMS, KFintech).
- Audited Offer Prospectuses: Red Herring Prospectuses (RHP), Draft RHPs, and official allotment outcomes published by SEBI and exchange-designated Registrars.
- Strict Exclusion of Unverified Claims: Marketing brochures, broker self-reported awards, sponsored blog posts, and financial influencer testimonials are explicitly banned from our calculation pipelines.
2. Editorial Independence & Zero-Payola Guarantee
Our editorial desk operates with complete independence from commercial operations. BrokerLens maintains a strict Zero-Payola Guarantee:
- Rankings Cannot Be Purchased: No broker, AMC, algorithmic software vendor, or listed company can pay to improve their ranking, raise their reliability score, or alter a review.
- Algorithmic Scrutiny: Our broker reliability rating is derived entirely from objective, public mathematical formulas factoring in active client volume, exchange-reported complaint frequency, resolved grievances, and uptime compliance.
- No Sponsored Editorial Content: We do not publish paid guest posts, sponsored articles, or covert advertorials. Any educational guide or market analysis is authored solely by our research team.
3. Commercial Transparency & Affiliate Disclosure
To sustain our research infrastructure, engineering pipelines, and continuous data ingestion without charging subscription paywalls to retail investors, BrokerLens participates in verified referral and affiliate partnerships with leading SEBI-registered brokers (including Zerodha and 5paisa).
Strict Separation of Commerce and Analysis: All affiliate partnership links are isolated into clearly demarcated banner blocks (e.g., sponsored partner cards marked with verified badges) and are explicitly excluded from ranking tables, comparisons, and search algorithms. If an investor chooses to open a Demat or trading account through our partner link, BrokerLens may receive a nominal referral fee at zero additional cost to the investor. This commercial arrangement never impacts our objective analysis, scoring criteria, or critical assessment of broker drawbacks.
4. Fact-Checking & Automated Verification
BrokerLens employs a dual-tier verification architecture combining automated regression testing with manual research audits:
- Automated Quality Assurance: Our software pipelines run extensive end-to-end tests (including over 490 automated regression assertions and defensive security sweeps) verifying tariff models, STT calculations, SEBI transaction charges, and exchange fee schedules before every build.
- Quarterly Broker Tariff Reconciliation: We systematically cross-examine broker brokerage structures, depository participant (DP) charges, call-and-trade fees, and account maintenance charges (AMC) against official schedule of charges documents.
- Primary Source Attribution: Every factual page features clear source attribution referencing the origin regulatory disclosure and refresh timestamp.
5. Corrections Policy & Public Accountability SLA
While our pipelines strive for absolute precision, financial regulations and broker tariff structures evolve rapidly. We welcome public scrutiny and maintain a formal corrections policy:
- Rapid Response SLA: We commit to investigating all verifiable data correction requests within 24 to 48 business hours of receipt.
- Correction Protocol: If a discrepancy is validated against an official primary source (such as an updated exchange circular or published tariff sheet), our data models and published pages are updated on the immediate subsequent deployment cycle.
- Reporting Channel: To report a factual error or submit an updated regulatory document, please email our compliance desk at letmeknow@brokerlens.in with the subject line Data Correction Request and relevant source links.
6. Non-Advisory Mandate & Regulatory Disclosures
Not Investment Advice: BrokerLens is a financial data, technology, and informational publisher. BrokerLens is not registered as an Investment Adviser (IA) or Research Analyst (RA) with SEBI. Nothing published on this website constitutes investment advice, financial planning, portfolio management, or a solicitation to buy, sell, or hold any security, derivative contract, mutual fund unit, or financial instrument.
No Unregulated Market Products: BrokerLens does not publish grey market premiums (GMP), dabba trading estimates, or informal off-exchange speculation. We believe unregulated figures mislead retail investors and compromise market integrity.
Risk Warning: Trading in equities, derivatives (futures and options), and leveraged securities involves substantial risk of capital loss. Per SEBI study findings, 9 out of 10 individual traders in equity futures and options incur net losses. Investors should perform independent due diligence, review regulatory offer documents, and consult certified financial planners before making investment decisions.
